Things Students Should Consider When Making Appointments

Grammar Check Reading:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive editing conference that focuses only on the ungraded paper’s correctness of expression (grammar, word choice, punctuation, etc.) and formatting.
Paper-in-Progress Brainstorming Session:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive session that takes the writer from the brainstorming/invention stage of the assignment to a skeletal outline of the paper. This type of reading may not fulfill course paper reading requirement. All students should check with their professor.
Paper-in-Progress Reading:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive session in which the paper reader helps the writer incorporate cited research material into an already prepared text or in which the paper reader helps the writer to format the works cited or reference list page. Copies of the student's research material is required.
Final Draft Paper Reading:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive paper reading which focuses on the ungraded paper’s content, manuscript format, documentation style, and correctness of expression.
Paper Tutoring:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive session focusing on understanding and/or revising the features of a graded paper that have been identified by an instructor.
Dual-Conference Paper Reading: (May be required by some comp instructors)
This type of reading is divided into 2 separate appointments: a one-hour, interactive, instructional paper reading that focuses on the ungraded paper’s content; then a one-hour interactive editing conference that focuses on the surface features of the paper: grammar, punctuation, etc.
Documentation Check Reading:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive session that focuses on APA, MLA, AP, APSA, Chicago, or Turabian documentation features only: title page, parenthetical documentation or footnotes, and the Works Cited page, bibliography, or reference list.This type of reading is recommended for ungraded and graded papers, including abstracts, chapters from a longer text, research papers and proposals with required documentation.
Group Paper Reading:
This type of reading is a one-hour, interactive paper reading that focuses on both the organizational and surface features of the group paper: grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, etc.This type of reading is by appointment only. All members of the group must be present unless each section is a stand-alone part of the paper.
Q-A Reading:
This type of reading is done only on a Walk-In basis. This type of reading is not really a reading, but an on-the-spot check, which allows the writer to get answers to a limit of one to three specific questions about the ungraded paper’s content or correctness of expression.

This type of reading is a two-hour, interactive paper reading which focuses on the paper’s content, manuscript format, documentation style, and correctness of expression. For more information, click here.
