Exercise #1

Review your answers from Exercise #1 of Chapter 5. For each of the five tree diagrams you created, identify the method of logical progression you used to arrange your topic sentences from left to right. If your tree diagrams seem to have no logical progression, use the methods discussed above to organize your diagrams logically and effectively. Show your original or reorganized tree diagrams on this page and label each one with one of the four major methods of logical progression.

Exercise #2

Take any one of the tree diagrams that you presented is the previous exercise and diagram a paragraph for each of the topic sentences. Show your completed tree diagrams on this page. Your diagrams need not used complete sentences for ideas below the level of topic sentences, but the phrases you use should be meaningful and express the major idea of a sentence.
