Airport Transportation:  Those appearing on the program or pre-registered for the meeting may send arrival information to the local arrangements email address above. A shuttle van will collect you from the airport and transport you to the hotel.  There will be regular van runs to the airport on Sunday, and we can make special trips to get people back to the airport on other days.

Keynote Session:  The keynote session on Friday Evening, February 3, features coordinated presentations from Anthony Oliver-Smith (University of Florida), Martha Ward (University of New Orleans), and Sandra Flake (Provost of the University of West Florida).  They will be presenting on disaster research in anthropology and the practical aspects of disaster recovery for institutions and communities in our region.

Friday Evening Dinner:  We are planning a subscription dinner on Friday, February 3, before the keynote session. The dinner will be a “family style” Italian offering with Basil Tomatoes, Marinated Grilled Vegetables, Eggplant Caviar, Caesar Salad, Marinated Artichokes, Tomatoes and hearts of Palm, Olives, Pepperoncini, Marinated Mozzarella, Cheese Tortellini, additional sides, choices of Rosemary Roasted new York Strip Loin, Lemon and Herb Grilled Chicken Breast, or Roasted Grouper, pasta and risotto selections, bread, and desserts.  We are underwriting part of the cost for each participant. The remaining cost to regular members is $20 and students $10.  We would like to encourage everyone to participate in this event.  The meal is a $30 value.

Saturday Evening Mixer: We are hosting a mixer on Saturday dedicated to students and student groups.  We will have soft drinks, food, music, and other activities, including announcement of the student paper competition winners.  TJP may DJ for part of the night, depending upon musical tastes.  If you have CD tracks you want played, bring them.

Swimming Pools: The hotel has an outdoor heated pool and an indoor pool, as well as many other entertaining features.  Although we cannot guarantee February weather will be warm, and we know everyone will be very engaged in the academic part of the program.  Yet one may find the odd moment for a swim, and the pools will be warm, so bring bathing suits.
