OK, so I was worried from the very start, and hasn't it become more dangerous ever since?  This picture comes pretty much from my beginning, with my father and mother, Tee Jay and Bess Prewitt, and my sister Georgia Nell, in San Diego.

For AM and DC-- Dallas, 2003

My last concern is what comes after this,

not only from my fear of needless pain

but also from the sense of my hubris;

and hoping not to leave something undone

I struggle to complete my life in time

to feel a little settled on all scores—

it really is a hopeless paradigm,

calling for no loose ends and no encores.

I can recall this clearly on a day

when yet another friend has taken leave,

unexpectedly as one might say—

but then I should suppose one should receive

a dispensation and at last away

without a care for those now left to grieve.
