The UWF Theatre Department is an active member of the following organizations:
- United States Institute of Theatre Technology
USITT is the association of design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry. Founded in 1960, USITT's mission is to actively promote the advancement of the knowledge and skills of its members. Our 3,600+ members live, work, and do business throughout the United States, Canada, and 40 other countries.
- Southeastern Theatre Conference
Recognizing that the theatre arts are a necessary and expressive means by which the human community may come to understand and celebrate itself and that the southeastern United States has a rich cultural diversity and legacy, SETC has as its purpose to provide services and educational programs for those individuals and organizations engaged in theatre in the southeast.
Started in 1969 by Roger L. Stevens, the Kennedy Center's founding chairman, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States. The KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.
Held each fall, the Florida Theatre Conference is one of the largest conferences of its kind. As as an active participant, UWF faculty members contribute in many ways: from serving on its Board of Directors, to presenting popular workshops in a variety of areas. Most importantly, UWF sees hundreds of high school seniors and juniors at the FTC auditions and portfolio reviews, which mark the beginning of our departmental scholarship process.
