PRE-CONFERENCE SESSION 1

CULTIVATING ASSESSMENT ON YOUR CAMPUS
(June 1, 2008/9:00 am – 12:00 pm)
Most of us know assessment is important. We will examine strategies for conducting
and utilizing assessment in student affairs. We will discuss practical examples of
assessment impacting budget, programming and facility decisions. We will examine
how to use assessment and evaluation data in a creative way to inform both internal
and external audiences of the work being done in student affairs.

This workshop is sponsored by the NASPA Assessment, Evaluation and Research
Knowledge Community.

INTENDED OUTCOMES OF THE SESSION:
Participants will:
1. Expand knowledge of assessment and evaluation
2. Learn what current research says about student affairs assessment
3. Learn creative techniques to conduct and share assessment
4. Share ideas for developing and supporting research within campus student affairs
departments
5. Gain practical knowledge and skills for application on their campus
