February 4-5, 2010
Thursday, February 4, 2010
- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – 9 a.m. – Official ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of the building. Event is free and open to UWF faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends.
- Building Tours – immediately following Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – provided by UWF students at intervals throughout the day. Tours will feature faculty and student projects, research activities and partnership opportunities.
- Technology Expo – 10 a.m. – held in the School of Science & Engineering throughout the day featuring exhibits showcasing area technology businesses. Event is free and open to the public.
- Breakout Sessions with UWF Alumni / Industry Experts – sessions scheduled throughout the afternoon in the School of Science and Engineering auditorium.
- 10:30 a.m. - Tad Ihns - UWF alumnus, BS Systems Science '82. President, Avalex Technologies, Pensacola, FL.
- 1:00 p.m. - Scott Cutler - Chief Operating Officer, AppRiver, Gulf Breeze, FL
- 3:00 p.m. - Theresa Brunasso - UWF alumna, BS Physics '82. Former Director of Technology, EMS Technologies, Atlanta, GA
- Alumni Reception – 5:30 p.m. – UWF alumni will be treated to a private tour and reception. The event will be held in the new building and is free to UWF alumni. Dress is casual. Event is reggae themed.
- Engineers Week Banquet – 6:00 p.m. – Annual celebration of the engineering profession throughout Northwest Florida and is hosted by Florida Engineering Society (FES), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE). This is a ticketed event and will be held in the UWF Conference Center.

- Breakfast and Tour for Northwest Florida Education leaders – 9 a.m. – Northwest Florida superintendents, school board members, science and math curriculum coordinators will have a private breakfast program and tour of new school.
- Featured Speaker – Peter Diamandis – Achieving Innovation & Breakthroughs - 6:30 p.m., UWF Field House.

Peter Diamandis is founder of the X Prize Foundation, which offers a big cash prize for a specific accomplishment. The X Prize stimulates competition and excitement around some of the planet's most important goals. Peter's background is in space exploration -- before the X Prize, he ran a company that studied low-cost launching technologies and another company that took civilians on rides into the upper atmosphere. This event is free to public.
- Donor Reception – 7:30 p.m. – Private reception with special guest Peter Diamandis. Guests will enjoy private tours of the building and interactive activities with the School of Science & Engineering faculty & students. Proceeds from this event benefit the School of Science and Engineering.
