Healthcare is ultimately a business and as such it requires people to administer, manage, and make it run smoothly. The name "health care administrator" is used by professionals who arrange, plan, lead, organize, manage, and supervise health service delivery.
The healthcare industry is considered "recession-proof". During the past few years many fields have seen upsets and laid off workers, but the healthcare industry has continued to add hundreds of thousands of employees to its workforce during this period. There are positions for health care administrator throughout the industry including at hospitals, nursing homes, home health care agencies, insurance companies and even medical supply companies.
