Once you have registered for this course, you access part of the instructional content for the course through the Desire2Learn (D2L) Learning Management System located at: http://elearning.uwf.edu. You will want to bookmark this site for quick access. Logon to the eLearning environment using your Argonet login name and password, and you will arrive at "My Home". Once you select the relevant course link under the College of Arts and Sciences, you will enter the homepage and see current News related to that course. You can then also access each week's instructional lesson by clicking on Content link and then the Weekly Course Outline link.

Welcome to Computer Applications in Public Health. This orientation will provide important information for the successful completion of the online components of this course. If you haven't already, please take a look at the Course Syllabus which can always be found by selecting the Content link above. The Course Syllabus outlines the student learning outcomes for this course and materials you will complete to earn a final grade. In addition, the Weekly Course Outline under the Content link provides weekly topics and links to PowerPoint presentations and laboratory exercises.
Taking Parts of a Course Online
If you have never taken part of a course online, you may need to spend some additional time online during the first few weeks to become acclimated to the eLearning format. Review the "Tips for Learning at a Distance" and the Going Online @ UWF Guide described below and feel free to contact me via e-mail (msutton@uwf.edu) if you are having any problems. We want your online experiences in this course to be as painless as possible.
Tips for Learning at a Distance
Learning at a distance may be a very different environment for some of you. You will generally participate in class activities at your convenience, and work at your own pace. As you begin this learning experience, you might like to incorporate these tips to help you get started:
Class Meetings
The general evaluation schedule for this course assumes you will complete online exams, participate in online discussion groups, and submit assignments electronically. Online exams should be taken during the times frames indicated on the Weekly Course Outline for the given course. Similarly, assignments similarly should be posted or uploaded during the times indicated on that outline. More information on testing procedures and writing assignments will be available as these dates approach in the semester.
