Research Interests
Macro and Microbial Ecology. Biofilms as ecological indicators. Biochemical and population ecology of
bacteria and protozoa (microbial ecology) including: physiological adaptations,
prey recognition and selective feeding, community structure, and carbon and
nutrient cycling. Taxonomy and diversity of ciliate protists, especially in
marine and estuarine environments. Microbial communities as sentinels of
