Students after the Recreation and Sports Services all-staff training will demonstrate safety skills as assessed by passing (80%) the Risk Management Quiz on the first attempt. We expect 90% of students to pass the quiz on the first attempt.
All student employees are required to pass the Risk Management Quiz in order to standardize a level of prevention and response to an emergency situation. However, the student learning outcome indicates how well students are prepared from staff training to pass the quiz without remediation.
Our department risk management staff maintain a log of when staff take the quiz and whether they pass. The quiz is available via the university intranet, ArgoNet.
This measure is implemented at the end of each fall staff training and a requirement for all employees.
While the risk management quiz has long been part of the staff training regimen, results from this measure along with feedback concerning specific test questions will help improve safety skills training sessions and testing methods. The quiz itself encourages an awareness of prevention and response to emergency situations.
This fall 90% of student employees passed the Risk Management Quiz on the first attempt.
The trend of improving scores is likely the result of implementing new employee risk management workshops to better prepare novice staff. To maintain our goal of 90% we will continue to improve the risk management workshops.
