Students who are employed with Recreation and Sports Services will learn healthy behavior skills as demonstrated by the Microfit Fitness Profile. A student will score a 60 or higher on the test. We expect 80% of student employees to meet these criteria.
This measure is intended to assess that student employees are learning healthy behavior skills. Previous assessment using the Student Rubric Measure and Supervisor Rubric Measure indicated healthy behavior as a point for improvement. These measures could not discern whether students were unhealthy or just perceived themselves to be unhealthy. We decided to pursue this measure further because a recreation employee should logically set an example for patrons by practicing healthy behaviors.
Student employees will be asked to complete the Microfit Fitness Profile on a computer in the program assistant space, print their fitness profile, and return to their supervisor.
This measure is implemented at the end of each year.
We stress the importance of practicing healthy behaviors during Fall staff training by providing training manuals and a learning atmosphere to educate staff on the importance of practicing a healthy lifestyle.
This fall 75% of student employees achieved at least a 60% on their fitness profile as compared to 68% in spring 2009.
We have started and will continue to develop an employee fitness incentive program. We will also develop and conduct nutrition training for student employees.
