Based on our first results and lessons learned from "Learning Reconsidered", we have implemented our "second generation" of SLO assessment tools (see current measures). These are much shorter and focused than the measures we started with, and there are much fewer. We imagine these new tools will continue to not only help us improve our programs, but indicate how to improve our measures even more.
Continue the overview with our vision...
Some tools we've decided for various reasons not to continue using.
General self-report measure of perceived learning. Decided to remove in favor of more direct measures rather than self-reporting.
How often are students late? Decided there is too much variation in program area requirements and reporting to obtain meaningful data.
General measure of an employee's performance. Decided a supervisor's perception was less accurate than more direct measuring of staff learning.
