
The Industrial-Organizational concentration at the University of West Florida offers balanced coverage of industrial and organizational issues. The curriculum contains courses in the areas of personnel selection, performance appraisal, training and legal issues, as well as classes emphasizing topics such as leadership, motivation, organizational development, and team building. The I-O curriculum is designed to prepare students for work in an organizational setting, or to continue their education in a doctoral program at another university. Recent graduates have found employment in public and private sector organizations, while others have been accepted to I/O doctoral programs at other universities.
Our course of study consists of 42 semester hours and generally requires two academic years to complete. The M.A. program meets all standards of the Council of Applied Masters Programs in Psychology (CAMPP) and the Masters of Psychology Accreditation Council (MPAC).
Most students will begin their course work in the I-O concentration with Advanced Industrial-Organizational Psychology. All students in the program must complete 17 hours which include the following courses:

In addition, all I-O students must complete departmental requirements including Research Design AND EITHER Analysis of Variance, Special Topics in Statistics, or Regression Analysis. The psychology core requirement is 12 hours, one course from each of the four core areas (i.e., Biological, Social, Acquired, and Individual Bases). The Advanced Organizational Psychology course may be used to fulfill the Social Bases requirement, resulting in 9 semester hours outside the
I-O concentration.
