B.A., Agnes Scott College

As an Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology graduate student, I am fascinated by work environments and how individuals function in them. I love any opportunity to interact with people and to learn new things. My GA position in Enrollment Management is tied to I/O Psychology because recruitment and retention are concepts that are important in work environments, just as they are in academic departments. I spend a lot of time corresponding with applicants to the Masters programs in Psychology and I get to strategize closely with Diana Robinson, the Psychology Office Administrator, to come with up with new and inventive ways to attract potential students to the department. As part of my duties I serve on the Enrollment Management Committee where we utilize student perceptions of the department to see how best we can improve the experience of students and capitalize on our strong points. Additionally, with the recommendation of Dr. Steve Vodanovich, I was able to intern at a local, global organization. That experience really allowed me to capitalize on some real world work experience in my field and to broaden my knowledge in Human Resources. Also, my internship has led to further opportunities with the department’s Center for Applied Psychology. Currently I am working with Dr. Steve Kass and Dr. Laura Koppes on a training project that becomes more engaging each day. Overall, I have enjoyed all the opportunities that the Psychology Department has provided me with and my experience here has been very positive.
