Dear Campus Community,
Dr. Kyle Marrero was appointed interim vice president of University Advancement at the University of West Florida in August 2009, when a national search did not yield a finalist. I am now pleased to announce that Marrero has been appointed as the vice president for the Division of University Advancement.
Marrero’s accomplishments during his interim year included total annual gifts of more than $3.1 million to the UWF Foundation. The annual cash gift total represents the third highest in the last decade and the fifth highest in the university’s history. In addition, faculty and staff giving reached the 40 percent participation level - the highest in UWF history since records have been kept.
Marrero’s previous service to UWF includes serving as director of the School of Fine and Performing Arts and chair of the UWF Music Department. As an academic administrator and director of the School of Fine and Performing Arts, Marrero garnered success in his abilities to navigate curriculum, personnel and development issues including fundraising efforts that led to the purchase of 18 new Steinway pianos, making UWF an “All-Steinway” School.
Marrero is deeply rooted in the Pensacola community and I am confident he will continue the positive momentum set during his interim year in the area of University Advancement. Please join me in congratulating him on this appointment.
Sincerely,
Judy Bense
President, University of West Florida
