Facilities include one climate controlled optical research laboratory containing 3 Newport vibrationaly isolated optical tables. The optical tables are occupied by two pulsed Nd:YAG lasers, an optical parametric oscillator tunable over a wide range from violet to infrared frequencies and a variety of high quality optical components. A 20-GHz digital sampling oscilloscope to study ultrafast phenomena, a computer-controlled 1/2-meter monochromator to measure emission spectra.
A second lab is for micro and future nano technology, which houses a Langmuir-Blodgett trough and a vacuum evaporator for preparing thin films. An optical microscopy workbench for characterization of phase transitions of Liquid Crystals, thin and ultra-thin films, and a large magnet for the study of magneto-optical properties of materials.
