Welcome to your sixth week of firefighting at Firehouse 6993!

Everyone should be feeling pretty good about yourself and your firefighting skills about now given the majority are conquering CMC tools and are feeling more empowered and knowledgeable. Many may think that you are finally getting somewhat up to the speed of your own children or the students in your classroom. If anyone still needs assistance troubleshooting your CMC tools then do not hesitate to call on me. While you can use these tools within your groups or with others of your choosing outside of class, if anyone needs someone to call then feel free to let me know via email.

I graded both the ID Basic quiz and file formatting quiz this week so if you want to check on your final grade on those then go to the gradebook in eLearning. Everyone did just fine.

I have reviewed some potential articles for your research table project and many of you have been right on target. A few have switched their topic in order to best find some empirical articles which is fine. This week you will continue your search and identify your final 3 articles.

Please note that drills I provide for you each week (this week included) often build on one another so if you do not complete earlier drills (even if there is nothing required to turn in - Such as in the 3-alarm drill this week), later drills will take more time because you will have to go back and complete the earlier drill. Also, I generally try to give you warning in the "future" section on the last page each week of things you should be looking toward or getting ready for. For example, I suggested getting your quickcam ready in week 4 in anticipation of you wanting to use it in week 5. This week in that section I suggest you make sure and learn your username and password for UWF (if you do not already know it) before next week because you will need it. I try not to list too much in that section because I know some of you are overwhelmed with simply getting the tasks done for the current week, but I do want you to know that I try to forewarn you of things to come.

My goals for you during this week's drills are to:

• learn a lot about networking
• be able to draw (using a draw program called inspiration) a basic network to specifications
• be able to export your drawing as a jpeg and as a gif and discuss the differences

Task #1:
Download and install the Inspiration Trial Version for free from their web site. If you happen to have a version earlier than 6, you will need to download a new version because it has some new features we will be using.
