Chapter Quizzes
All quizzes in this course will be given using UWF's elearning system. Desire2Learn is a course management tool used for delivering online courses and has a variety of features. The only features we will use in this course are the Quizzing and Chat options. By virtue of being registered in this course you have access to the quizzes as I make them available. The quizzes available for each Chapter in the Ormrod text allow you to monitor your own comprehension of the text as you read it each week. The quiz grades are calculated as part of your final grade in this course. The purpose of the quizzes is to check your comprehension of the text and ability to apply concepts learned and to identify areas in which you may need to reread your text or ask for clarification from your instructor in order to continue with other assignments as well as do well on the final exam. Other graded assignments will be given that will ask you to apply the ideas and concepts within the chapter, therefore, it is essential that you understand the meaning of the concepts presented prior to their application in other assignments.

Please be sure to run a system check (you will see the link listed on the main page of the elearning system where you log in) on your computer prior to using the system to minimize any technical glitches you may have when completing quizzes. All quizzes will be timed. The time limit will be set according to the length of the quiz and types of items included. This means that one week you may have 60 minutes while another week you may have 120 minutes. When each quiz is introduced in a lesson I will also indicate the time allotted for the quiz. This first week I will allot some extra time for quizzes to give you a chance to get oriented and comfortable with the system. Once you log in to a quiz there will be a clock for you to monitor your remaining time. There is also a 5 minute grace period for that last save or click on the submit button. The quizzes will be turned off at 5 PM on the day they are due. No late quizzes will be accepted. No quizzes that extend beyond the time given for the quizzes will be graded. Finally, I strongly suggest that you save your quiz/answers as you go - there is a save button at each question. There is also a save entire quiz option at the end of each quiz. To complete and submit your quiz you must click on the submit quiz button at the bottom. If you have technical questions about the quizzes within the elearning system then feel free to email Melissa.

Once you are ready to begin the Quiz,

  1. Logon to Desire2Learn. You'll need your social security number and your Argo PIN. (Don't know what these are? Visit Compass. If you run into problems, contact Melissa.) [NOTE: There is a student guide on the log in page for the elearning system that guides you in how to log in and use the system.]
  2. Select the "Quizzes" section.
  3. Select the Chapter Quiz you want to take (e.g. 'Chapter One'). Carefully watch the clock as you work through the quiz. Save as you go.
  4. Hit the Submit button when you are done.
  5. You can view your score on the Quiz immediately upon completing the quiz unless there are short answer items that I must grade prior to providing a final score. Each week after the quiz is due I review each student's quiz for partial credit and short answer items. This means that just as in a tradtional course you will not receive the final grade on your quiz until the week after you take the quiz. Correct answers will not be made available until the following week when everyone has taken the quiz and after I have reviewed all quizzes.
