The RN to BSN program is a three semester program designed for the licensed Registered Nurse (RN) that expands on prior learning and experience to advance the professionals career mobility options.
Student admission is currently open for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semester. A separate application is required for the professional component. Students are admitted based on a minimum pre-requisite and overall GPA and space available. A minimum enrollment cohort, established by the University, is required for course offerings each semester. Admission is competitive and limited. The student completes the professional component in three semesters. Admission criteria and application deadlines are below.
Completion of an Associate Degree or Diploma Nursing program prior to enrollment
Completion of an Associate of Arts Degree or completion of UWF General Studies
requirements, including Gordon Rule, and foreign language.
Documentation of current unencumbered RN licensure in any state.
Submission of the UWF RN to BSN Application Form.
Completion of all UWF admission forms and fee payment by the established deadline
Submission of all official transcripts to Admissions and health immunization data to the Health Center by the established deadline
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in all college credit course work and a minimum grade of “C” in all Florida Common Course Prerequisites applicable to the BSN degree program.
Upon acceptance into the program, the student will be given directions regarding the submission of the following documents to an online provider site. You will have one week after notification of acceptance into the program to intiate this process. The cost of this is approximately $160.00. The student should be collecting this information/documentation prior to acceptance to prevent delay in the process. DO NOT send this documentation to the Department with your application.
The following courses or their equivalent must be completed prior to entry into the nursing major. 16 hours of these should be used to satisfy the General Studies requirements (7 hours Natural Sciences, 6 hours Social Sciences, 3 hours Mathematics)

This program is 100% online and you must have the computer competency skills necessary to log onto a distance learning platform, complete coursework that includes threaded discussions, uploading and downloading documents, have adequate skill in word processing, PowerPoint, internet searches, and online library research. APA format is utilized in all formal course work and an APA template package is highly recommended at an approximate cost of $30.
Enrollment is limited in this program and acceptance to the University does not constitute admission to the upper division Nursing Program. A separate application must be made to the department.
Spring 2013 cohort deadline is October 1, 2012. Notification by email will be sent on or before October 5, 2012 and your acceptance of admission required by October 12, 2012.
