The Department is offering a new degree in General Business starting with the Fall 2009 term. The B.S.B.A. in General Business is for people who want to gain cross functional skills across multiple disciplines including Management, Marketing, and Finance/Economics.
Effective Fall 2008, the Department of Management and MIS is offering a new Undergraduate Certificate in Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship for students interested in managing small businesses or starting their own businesses. The UWF chapter of Delta Sigma Pi recently won three awards at the Fall Leadership and Excellence Academy for Deltasigs held at Knoxville, Tennessee, on October 9, 2010. This included the Outstanding Professional Activities award, Outstanding Community Services award, and the Outstanding Chapter award. Mr. Hi Tran, undergraduate MIS student, presented an article titled "A model on users' trustiness in privacy and security in ubiquitous computing" at the International Conference of Accounting, Business, Leadership and Information Management held at New Orleans (May, 2010). This article, co-authored with Dr. June Wei, Associate Professor, Management Information Systems, also received one of three best paper awards at the conference.
Dr. June Wei has been appointed editor in chief of Electronic Government: An International Journal.

MBA student Aaron Hall was a first place winner in Global Business Strategy in The Business Strategy Game International competition. Mr. Tom Keiser, incoming Chief Information Officer for Gap Inc., made two presentations to MIS students in November, 2009. MIS majors and MBA students attended the first presentation. The second presentation, "Role of Systems Analysts in the Modern Organization" was presented to MIS students in ISM 4113.
