MIS STUDENT LEADERS ATTEND AIS STUDENT CHAPTER CONFERENCE IN ATLANTA

Chad Harrison and Reina Crowe, President and Vice President, respectively of the UWF student chapter of The Association for Information Systems (AIS) recently returned from attending the 2nd AIS Student Chapter Conference held on October 7, 2010 at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia.

AIS is an organization that promotes academics in the field of Information Systems. Founded in 1994, AIS has over 4,000 members from 90 countries. In 2009, AIS started the formation and inauguration of student chapters. The University of West Florida's AIS Student Chapter is now considered one of the "Founding Fathers" of the Associations's newest endeavors and is the primary student organization for all MIS majors. Microsoft Corporation has recently agreed to sponsor all student chapters of AIS which makes available Microsoft resources for student chapter activities.

The conference was attended by student leaders from universities located in the U.S., Australia, Egypt, and Hong Kong. The conference featured presentations by inspiring speakers in the IT/IS field from Koch Industries, Coca-Cola, and the professional Association for Information Systems. It offered the student leaders opportunities for networking and attending other breakaway sessions on important topics devoted to student chapter issues.
