Easy Slippers

3 oz 4 ply yarn
1 pair knitting needles - size 10

Directions are given for Small size (ages 8 - 12). Changes for Medium size (older child or women) are in parentheses.

Starting at back, measure off 24 inches of yarn and cast on 22 stitches.

Foundation row: Knit 9, increase in each of next 4 stitches, knit 9. (26 stitches)

Row 1: (,...) (wrong side) Knit 8, purl 1, knit 8, purl 1, knit 8 Row 2: (...,)Knit across

Repeat these 2 rows until length is 6 (7) inches, ending with a row 2.

Next row: Increase in first stitch, knit across (27 stitches)

Toe Row 1: (...,) knit 1, *purl 1, knit 1. Repeat from * across Row 2: (,...) Purl 1, *knit 1, purl 1. repeat from * across.

Repeat these 2 rows until length is 7 ½ (8 ½ ) inches.

Leaving a 12 inch length, break off. Thread this length into a needle and draw through remaining stitches. Pull up tightly and fasten securely. Starting at toe, stitch long edges together for 31/2 inches to form front seam.

Sew back seam.

Rosette: Cast on 20 stitches. Row 1: Increase in each stitch across. Bind off in knitting.

Twist into a rosette as shown in photo and sew to front of slipper.

Draw elastic thread through entire top edge, holding it into desired size. Fasten securely.

Make other slipper in same way.
