Cabbage Rolls

1 large head cabbage
1/2 lb ground chuck
1/2 lb ground sausage
1/2 cup rice (instant)
1 small onion; chopped
2 large eggs; beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon allspice
----sauce----
2 8 oz cans tomato sauce
1 large can tomato
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon sallt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup brown sugar

In large kettle, bring 3 qt water to boiling. Add cabbage and simmer 2 or 3 minutes or until leaves are pliable.

Carefully remove 12 large leaves from head, trim thick rib, if leaves are not soft enough, boil a little longer.

Preheat oven to 350°F

Combine meat, rice, onion, eggs, salt, pepper, alspice and 1/4 c water. Mix until well blended.

Stuff cabbage leaves with meat mixture (1/4 cup each)

In dutch oven, place a few remaining leaves, arrange rolls, seams down.

Make sauce, and pour over rolls.

Bring to a boil, sprinkle with brown sugar and place in oven.

Bake 1 1/2 hours, uncover bake 1 1/2 hours. .
