What is IFC?

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body of the fraternities at the University of West Florida. It is the administrative and judicial body for its member chapters. It sets fraternity policies and allows its members privileges and recognition of and by the University.

Dear Parents and Students,

We would like to welcome you to the UWF family! This is a very exciting time for you. There are many opportunities to become involved on campus, including Greek Life. Greek life is a great way to make new friends, succeed in academics, get involved on campus, develop leadership skills, and be an important part of the campus community.

Greek organizations offer a family atmosphere and the friendships formed can often last a lifetime. Academics are emphasized from recruitment/rush/intake until graduation and each organization provides academic assistance to their members. The Greeks often maintain higher grade point averages than non-members and students who join a Greek organization are more likely to obtain a degree than non-members. Each chapter elects officers to run the day-to-day operations of the organization and are assisted by members and alumni who serve as advisors. Greek members are provided leadership training, manage budgets, and gain hands on experience by leading committees. In addition, there are excellent opportunities to attend leadership conferences. Community service is also a big part of Greek organizations. At the University of West Florida, Greek organizations complete over 1,000 community service hours each semester.

As you can see, there are so many aspects to Greek Life! We hope that you will come see what Greek Life is all about. Just keep an open mind and remember that each chapter has something unique to offer. Once again, we would like to welcome you to the University of West Florida family!
