The University Honors Program Scholarships are highly competitive awards that are granted each year to both current and incoming honors students. These scholarships parallel the guiding principles of the University Honors Program: Areté, Téchne, and Sophía. All of the Honors Program Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of merit.
The exact number and type of scholarships awarded each year varies, and is dependent upon funding. Basic eligibility requirements are as follows:

Students who have already received a Pace Scholars Award (the $4,000/year scholarship) are not eligible for these awards.
Areté Scholarships are intended for incoming freshmen and/or transfer students new to UWF. These awards will be bestowed primarily on the basis of the student’s academic achievements and demonstrated leadership accomplishments at another institution or during High School. These students will also have demonstrated that they will bring a unique quality or personal touch to UWF and the University Honors Program.
As with the other scholarships, the specific amount of this award is variable, is dependent on the amount of funding available, and is awarded for only one year.
Téchne scholarships are intended for current and returning UWF Honors students, and these awards will focus upon the student's proven leadership accomplishments and involvement within the University Honors Program. Téchne scholarships require a minimum UWF GPA of 3.3.
As with the other scholarships, the specific amount of this award is variable, is dependent on the amount of funding available, and is awarded for only one year.
Sophía scholarships are also intended for current and returning UWF Honors students, and these awards will focus upon the student’s overall academic excellence and scholarly achievements. Sophía scholarships require a minimum UWF GPA of 3.5.
As with the other scholarships, the specific amount of this award is variable, is dependent on the amount of funding available, and is awarded for only one year.
