Scholarships must be postmarked or turned in to the Honors office by Friday, February 24th.
The University of West Florida Honors Program Scholarships are highly competitive awards that are granted each year to both current and incoming honors students. These scholarships parallel the guiding principles of the University Honors Program: Areté, Téchne, and Sophía. All of the Honors Program Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of merit.
Areté scholarships are intended for incoming freshmen and/or transfer students new to UWF. These awards will be bestowed primarily on the basis of the student’s academic achievements and demonstrated leadership accomplishments at another institution or during High School.
Téchne scholarships are intended for current and returning UWF Honors students, and these awards will focus upon the student’s proven leadership accomplishments and involvement within the University Honors Program. Téchne scholarships will require a minimum UWF GPA of 3.4.
Sophía scholarships are also intended for current and returning UWF Honors students, and these awards will focus upon the student’s overall academic excellence and scholarly achievements. Sophía scholarships will require a minimum UWF GPA of 3.5.
The exact number and type of scholarships awarded each year varies, and is dependent upon funding.
