Each year, UWF sends a group of students to represent the Honors Program at various academic conferences. Conferences are a wonderful way for students to make important contacts, gain new perspectives on improving the program, and more importantly, show off the many advantages of being a UWF Honors student by giving presentations related to academics or Honors life.
In addition to giving presentations, conferences also provide an awesome opportunity to have fun and relax while visiting cities like Denver, Tampa, Birmingham, San Antonio, and St. Petersburg.
We attend three conferences each year:
NCHC is held in late October, FCHC is held in February, and SRHC is held in March.
If you would like to go to a conference, the best way is to propose a presentation topic to the Director or Assistant Director. This opportunity is available to all students in the Honors Program, and we encourage anyone who may be interested to get involved!
In 2006, we hosted the Southern Regional Honors Council Conference at the Walt Disney World Coronado Springs Resort in sunny Orlando. Prior to that, in 2003, we hosted the Florida Collegiate Honors Council Conference, also in Orlando.
