Convert a Word document to PDF

There are two UWF supported methods for converting a Word document to PDF. The choices available to you will depend on where you are working and what software is available to you.

OPTION 1: If you are working from the SAIL Computer Lab, the CyberLounge, or any other computer with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8 installed, you can convert the document using the Adobe Program.

OPTION 2: If your computer does not have Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8, then you can convert your document using the eDesktop Virtual Computer Lab (available in MyUWF).

Adobe Acrobat Method

This method requires that Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8 be installed on the computer you are using. You cannot use this method in eDesktop.

  1. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, locate the Word 2007 file that you want to convert to PDF.

  2. Right-click on the file and select Convert to Adobe PDF.

  3. Select a location to save the file and enter a file name, then click Save. The PDF is then generated.

eDesktop Method

  1. Log into MyUWF, open eDesktop app and connect.

  2. Open the Word 2007 file that you want to convert. Because you used the second Connect button, you are able to access files saved on your computer from the "My Computer" icon.

  3. At the top of Microsoft Word, click the Add-Ins tab, then click the letters PDF (only the letters are clickable, not the entire button).

  4. In the pop-up window, check the box for Preserve Hyperlinks, then click Create PDF.

  5. Select a location to save the file and enter a file name, then click Save. The PDF is then generated.
