UWF Alumni and Friends Support Creating Great Futures Campaign
The University of West Florida is grateful for the charitable support of its alumni, friends, faculty, and staff toward the Creating Great Futures Campaign. With a goal of $35 million to support key programs and scholarships, the campaign is vital to the university’s continued success, especially in light of budget challenges currently facing the State. September 25, 2007 marked the beginning of the public phase of the campaign, shifting the emphasis to broad participation. Every gift, no matter the size, helps create great futures for UWF students.
As of July 11, more than 13,700 alumni and friends have made contributions to help support UWF students and enhance educational programs and facilities. These numbers represent the tremendous generosity of UWF supporters and the positive impact they will have on the lives of hundreds of UWF students.
Scott Shaw is among the many students who receive scholarship support from the UWF Foundation. “I am extremely grateful for the scholarships that I receive thanks to the kindness of people that don’t know me, but believe in the power of education,” said Scott Shaw. A biochemistry major from Milton, FL, Shaw plans to become an oncologist. “I have seen the ravages of cancer on my community, which inspired me to become a doctor and fight cancer.”
