Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantship funds are dispersed from the Graduate School and are allocated to the various academic departments. The academic departments are responsible for awarding these assistantships to select graduate students. Students should contact their academic department for more information.
SGA Academic Travel Fund
Undergraduate and graduate students engaged in academic travel may apply
for funding through the Student Government Association. As long as there
is matching funding through other departments, the SGA may offer up to $200
for an individual applicant and up to $600 for groups of 3 or more applying

The Jefferson Science Fellowship
The National Academies is pleased to announce a call for applications for the 2011 Jefferson Science Fellowship (JSF) program. Now in its 8th year, the JSF program is a model for engaging the American academic science, technology, and engineering communities in the formulation and implementation of U.S. foreign policy.
Jefferson Science Fellows spend one year at the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, DC and may periodically travel to U.S. foreign embassies and/or missions. JSF awards are open to tenured academic scientists, technologists and engineers from U.S. educational institutions. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and will be required to obtain a security clearance.
The online application and instructions can be found on the JSF website. The application deadline is January 14, 2011. Finalists will be interviewed in late February, and applicants will be notified of selection decisions by early March. The 2011 Jefferson Science Fellows will report to the Department of State or Agency for International Development on or about August 15, 2011.

Grant
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers the Graduate Student Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant. This is a competitive grant for creative and scholarly projects by graduate students in good standing at UWF. Out-of-State Tuition Waivers for Graduate Assistants
To qualify for an out-of-state waiver, a graduate student must be awarded a graduate assistantship. Graduate students not appointed to a graduate assistantship are not eligible for out-of-state waivers. Out-of-state fees for graduate assistants will be waived if they are:
These fee waivers apply only to out-of-state fees. The student is still responsible for in-state tuition and fees. However, the student may also be eligible for matriculation fee waivers. Out-of-state and matriculation fee waivers are processed through the student’s academic department.
