Introduction and What's New to ArcGIS 10 Desktop - An Online Training Course
Upon completion on this course, students earn 9.6 Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s) and 2.4 EDU-2 Total Course Points towards your GISP (see GISCI.org). There are 96 total hours of instruction/course materials covered in a 6 week time frame.
This six week, online training course is directed towards individuals new to Geographic Information Systems and ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop, GIS users interested in learning the latest updates in ArcGIS 10, and GIS professionals interested in earning Continuing Education Credits or Course Credits for the GIS Professional License . This course begins by explaining the basics of GIS and related software packages before moving in to ArcGIS 10 software-specific training. You’ll learn about map design, GIS data basics (importing, editing, and managing), geodatabases, projections, geocoding, working with networks, and basic and advanced spatial analysis techniques. In order to participate in this course, students must meet ESRI software computational requirements, have an internet connection, email, and be fairly knowledgeable about computers and the internet.
A computer or laptop capable of running ArcGIS 10 trial version software, Internet access, e-mail, the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox Web browser, and the Adobe Flash and PDF plug-ins (two free and simple downloads you obtain at http://www.adobe.com/downloads by clicking Get Adobe Flash Player and Get Adobe Reader).

There are no specific prerequisites for this program, but those interested should be fairly knowledgeable about computers and the Internet, and you’ll need an Internet connection with e-mail to take this program. Individuals will be using their own computers with trial version software being downloaded from the manufacturer’s website (ESRI).
