The UWF graduate GIS Certificate Program is designed to provide students and working professionals with the conceptual base and technical skills necessary to develop and manage GIS projects relating to environmental and socioeconomic applications. The graduate UWF GIS certificate will count towards the URISA sponsored GISCI (GISP) certification. Students in this program can advance within their chosen career by completion of this program. GIS practitioners can complete the program in the online environment by enrolling as a non-degree seeking student.
Entrance Requirement
Entrants must hold an undergraduate degree.
Students must receive formal approval from the proposed GIS Certificate Program Committee.

GIS 4043/L Geographic Information Systems / Lab or Equivalent (4)
GIS 4035/L Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing / Lab or Equivalent (4)
GIS 3015/L Cartographic Skills / Lab or Equivalent (4)
Required
GIS 5XXX GIS Programming (3)
choice of one of the following
GIS 5039 Applications in Remote Sensing (3)
GIS 5100 Applications in Geographic Information Systems (3)
choice of one of the following
GIS 5935 Special Topics in Geographic Information Science (3)
GIS 6110 Advanced Topics in Geographic Information Science (3)
and choose from the following (must total 3 hours)
GEO 6905 Directed Study (1-3)
GIS 5946 Geographic Information Systems Internship (1-3)
Transfer credits are accepted for prerequisite classes only. Students who successfully complete the 12-credit program with an overall 3.0 GPA will be awarded a graduate certificate in Geographic Information Science.
