GIS Lab Open Hours for current semester (PDF)

The GeoData Center maintains a brand new state-of-the-art Geospatial laboratory facility in building 13 on the UWF Pensacola campus. The multi-use facility is designed to accomodate course instruction, training courses as well as research endeavors.

Facilities

The primary laboratory is equipped with:

• 32 Dell Precision 64-bit Workstations with quad-core Xeon processors
• Dual LCD monitors and individual Uninteruptable Power Supply (UPS) for each workstation
• Short Throw LCD Projector
• 42 inch 1200-DPI HP Designjet color plotter
• Color printing

Software packages available to laboratory users include:

• ERDAS Imagine 2010
• IDRISI Tiaga
• SPSS Statistics 18
• Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise
• Microsoft Office 2010 Professional
• Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
• Inkscape (vector graphics editor)
• GiMP (raster image editor)

This facility is located in on the third floor of building 13 (room 311). Students and staff are able to use the laboratory during non-class open hours. A PDF with the current lab schedule is linked near the top of this page. ArcGIS is now also available for use in the Skylab located on the 5th floor of the John C Pace library.

Other Capabilities

The GeoData Center also provides access to equipment for collecting geographic data as well as an architecture to share and publish spatial data and resources over the web.

Our dedicated web and database servers  are configured with ArcGIS server (9.3 and 10) and SQL Server with ESRI Spatial Database Engine (SDE).

Additional equipment available to students and other users includes a Sokkia total survey station, a Trimble Pro XR GPS unit, and two handheld GPS/mobile GIS units running Windows CE and ArcPad.
