UWF Fencing Club

Fencing- It's not just marking property lines or selling stolen goods.

The sport of fencing has a long and glorious history dating back to the late 15th century, originally being practiced for self defense and military training. Now, this olympic sport is practiced for mental and physical agility, quickness of wit and body, and most of all, fun. It is a sport that men and women from all ages can participate in competitively (The 1996 USA Olympic team's members ranged in age from 19 to 50).

The University of West Florida has had an small but active fencing club for a number of years now, and we are always looking for new targets, er, members. Beginning lessons are always available, so don't let not knowing how to fence stop you from joining us (It's never stopped any of us from fencing) . We fence all three weapons (foil, epée, saber (sabre for you UK folks)) and instruction is available in each.
