REEF
University of Florida Research and Engineering Education Facility
The University of Florida and the University of West Florida now provide seamless education in engineering for UWF students. UWF students in undergraduate engineering now have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an engineering and research environment at UF's Research and Engineering Education Facility (REEF) located adjacent to Eglin Air Force Base (EAFB) in Shalimar. The program enables UWF faculty and students to work collaboratively with UF faculty and students on projects and to exchange ideas. Once UWF students complete the undergraduate program, they can continue their education at the graduate level with UF at the same facility. The program also supports the greater Eglin community and responds to Air Force research needs. UWF/UF-REEF students gain valuable experience while working with world class researchers from UWF/UF and the Air Force on a wide range of relevant and challenging research topics.
Resources
There are few centers of higher education quite like the REEF. The faculty, staff and students of the REEF enjoy extraordinary facilities.
- Fully networked classroom, laboratory and conference facilities including a 107-seat auditorium
- Student-accessible computer lab with professional versions of MATHCAD, MATLAB, C++, FORTRAN and others
- Senior design lab
- Specialized world-renowned research laboratories at Eglin AFB are available for a variety of student research projects
