Am I guaranteed the Ed.D. degree in three years?
The program is planned and structured to facilitate most members completing all degree requirements in this timeframe. To achieve this outcome, members will need to attain high levels of academic achievement. Dissertations may require additional time due to unforeseen circumstances.
What if I have to drop out for a semester due to illness or other unforeseen events?
We will work with each person who needs to delay coursework for whatever reason. However, dropping out for more than a semester will probably mean you will not be able to catch up with the cohort schedule. Program courses are offered in other Emerald Coast locations and at the main campus in Pensacola. Many courses are available for completion online. So, if a member can't continue with the cohort, there are other options available for completing the program.
What if I have a specialist degree?
This cohort program is specifically designed for students who have completed their masters degree. Students who have completed a specialist program are encouraged to talk with program advisors about UWF's traditional program and how credit that they have already earned can be used for a doctoral program. Students are required to take all of the program courses to be a part of the cohort.
What is the cost of the program?
The program is equivalent to 72 semester hours of graduate credit. Based on projected tuition and fees for the 2009-10 academic year (a total of 24 semester hours), tuition and fees are estimated to be $7,000.00 (not including books). Tuition and fees are projected to increase in succeeding years by up to 10% each year and are dependent on the actual number of hours taken each year. The list of courses per semester can be found on the Program of Study.
What if I don't have my GRE Scores?
If you have taken the GRE and UWF has the scores from a previous application or you have graduated from UWF with your masters degree you will not have to resubmit your scores, they will be on file at the University. If you are unable to submit old GRE scores or your scores are over 5 years old, plan to take the Miller's Analogy Test at either the Emerald Coast Campus or UWF's Main Campus.
