Students in Delphi have the opportunity to participate in the following co-curricular activities:
Induction CeremonyThe ceremony takes place on the Friday of Family Weekend. It is a time that students are able to commit to being an active member of Delphi. While the ceremony is short, the importance is grand. At the ceremony the students will receive their Delphi pin which signifies their connection to a greater community. |
Delphi CelebrationThe final program is our end-of –the –year celebration. The students in Delphi are invited to this event which includes a catered dinner, a keynote speaker, a recap of the year, and reading from the Delphi Monologues and Apollo’s Flame. The celebration also allows the students to focus on their next step: their Second-Year Experience and the transition into Oracle. |
Common ReadEach year a book is chosen by the University which will be used in many of the first-year students’ classes. This allows the student to understand that the disciplines of higher education interact and impact one another. Delphi also uses the books to help generate conversations and discussions on a various arrangement of topics. Check out the 2012 Common Read here! |
Battle of the Hall StarsThis event takes place on a Saturday early in the fall semester. It is a day-long competition among the residence halls. Delphi unites on this day to triumph over the other living communities in various athletic events. |
Delphi MonologuesThe end of the spring semester the students begin to reflect on their experiences over the last year. Students who wish can create their own monologue which narrates their thoughts and feeling about their time at UWF as a member of Delphi. Students who wish to read their monologue aloud may do so at the annual event known as Delphi Monologues. |
Apollo's FlameWhile some students are athletic, others may possess the power of the pen or the impact of art. Apollo’s Flame allows these students to compete in the areas of their strengths. Students are able to compete with short stories, poems, and art within the Delphi community. Students are allowed to submit pieces which are judged buy faculty, staff and community members for placement in each area. |
Each year the Delphi class is presented with a project (decided by the previous Delphi class) to complete by the end of the class’s first-year. The project is focused on an element which will be long lasting and seen as a “gift” to Delphi or UWF. The idea is to give something back to the Delphi community from the current class.
