Past president of three professional societies: North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS), International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) and IEEE Neural Networks Council. Fellow of the IEEE and IFSA. Recipient of the IEEE Millenium, Fuzzy Systems Pioneer and Frank Rosenblatt Medals.
