The acceptance process to the UWF/CHS pre-engineering program is three fold:

First, students who are interested must submit an application. The deadline for students currently living in the area must be submitted by May 6, 2005. Students who move to the area beyond this deadline will be considered, but must submit their application through their CHS guidance counselor.

Second, students should enroll in the first year pre-engineering class through their guidance counselor during registration. This does not mean that you are accepted to the program, but it will put you in the system for application tracking and processing.

Third, space in the program is limited. A maximum of 90 first year students will be accepted into the pre-engineering for the 2005-2006 school year. Due to this limited space students will be evaluated in four areas after submitting their application:

  1. Grades: Students should typically have a minimum un-weighted GPA of 2.7 or higher.
  2. Discipline and Behavior: The past behavioral record of the students will be evaluated.
  3. Application Data: Information such as past awards and achievements will be taken into consideration.
    • For higher consideration, students may submit an essay of 300 to 500 words along with the application stating the students goals and interest in engineering. Using a word processor is recommended but not required.
  4. Interview: A five minute interview will be conducted with each student.

Students will be notified by mail of their acceptance into the program.
