From time to time, we get updates and news from many of our alumni, unfortunately not as many as we would like. Please drop us a line with any announcements that you would like to share with the department or other alumni. You can send us an email at chemistry@uwf.edu, stanner@uwf.edu or mhuggins@uwf.edu, and we will include your news in the next installment of the newsletter and post it on the Department’s website. Here are the most recent tidbits from alumni.

| Tracy Marks (BS '02) |
I have been working in Tallahassee with the FL. Dept. of Agriculture as a chemist since right after I graduated. I've done very well with them, and have been promoted twice in 3 years to where I am a chemist III presently. I have most definitely become a very valued employee to them. (Excerpt from email) |

I graduated in 1971 with a degree is Chemistry and knew Dr. Tanner and Dr. Gurst well when I worked as a lab assistant in the early days. All the chemical staff helped me through some turbulent times and the education I received has worked well for me through the years. For your information, I still work in the Analytical Chemistry field and own an instrumental development company called Technical Monitoring Research where we make a variety of instrumentation to detect chemical, specifically Chemical Warfare Agents in the air, for the Government, as well instruments/equipment for other uses. |

I just wanted to let you know that I was recently selected to receive The ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry Young Investigator Award in Separation Science. It recognizes young scientists who have made unique and outstanding contributions to the field of separation science. The award symposium will be next year in Chicago. The family is doing great and my research is progressing. (excerpt from email) |
