The University of West Florida is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, and Doctor of Education degrees. The School of Education at UWF is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), 2010 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036, phone (202) 466-7496. This accreditation covers (initial teacher preparation programs and/or advanced educator) preparation programs. NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.
Teacher and school administrator preparation programs have also been reviewed and approved by the Florida Department of Education.
