There are many ways to look for a job, some are obviously better than others.
Internet Job Search
Search online job banks and company web sites. Submit resumes online or post on specific job boards.
Pros: Many employers use job boards to quickly post open positions
Cons: Competition grows as most job seekers now have access to the web
Networking
Talk to everyone you know to develop a list of possible contacts; ask for information on job/companies and to circulate your resume.
Pros: may learn of unadvertised opening and have someone “inside” working to get you a job
Cons: can be time consuming and may not lead to one job opening
On-campus Recruiting
Take advantage of the on-campus recruiting program by applying for positions through JasonQuest of companies coming to UWF to interview students.
Pros: easy and convenient for interviewing
Cons: employers representing your major may choose not to participate in the on-campus interviewing program
Want Ads
Scan want ads in the newspaper or industry magazines. Mail resume with cover letter tailored to specific qualifications.
Pros: resume and cover letter are specific for ob opening
Cons: may be in heavy competition with other job seekers
In-person Visit
You are in charge of our own job search and can visit as many companies as you want. Ask to see someone in a specific company. And submit resume and cover letter to that person.
Pros: you have hand delivered your resume and cover letter and know it was received.
Cons: Requires a great deal of time to make a relatively small number of contacts.
