Welcome to Campus Activity Board’s Center Stage Committee! Center Stage Committee is responsible for hosting events that spotlight student talent. If you have a passion for performing, Center Stage events are a great place to showcase your talent! When you attend Center Stage events, you can always expect a fun atmosphere and outstanding performances! We hope you will join us this semester and be a part of the excitement!

Center Stage Performance Rules and Tips
In addition to the general Performance Rules and Tips above we also have some event specific rules as well. Please click on an event to view any special rules.
- To be eligible to perform as a solo act in Open Mic Night the contestant must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- If you are performing as a group, at least one person in the group must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- Sign-ups for Open Mic Night begins fifteen (15) minutes prior to the event, however, if you are entering Open Mic Night as a Band or special talent that requires extra technical preparation, please show up thirty (30) minutes early.
- Each contestant is limited to performing one act per Open Mic Night.
- Each performance is limited to five (5) minutes.
- Each contestant is required to bring their own music on a flash drive, CD or an iPod.
- Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, and all judges decisions are FINAL.
- There will be four winners at each Open Mic Night, with a cash prize of $25 and advancement to Open Mic Night Finale.
- Each contestant is required to bring their own music on a flash drive, CD or an iPod.
- Please arrive thirty (30) minutes prior to the event to check in.
- To be eligible to perform as a solo act in Open Mic Night the contestant must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- If you are performing as a group, at least one person in the group must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- Each performance is limited to five (5) minutes.
- Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, and all judges decisions are FINAL.
- There will be one winner at Open Mic Night Finale, with a grand prize of $300!
- To be eligible to perform as a solo act in Karaoke Night the contestant must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- If you are performing as a group, at least one person in the group must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- Sign-up for Karaoke Night begins 15 mins prior to the event, but you can also sign up throughout the event and for more than one song.
- All judging decisions are FINAL.
- There are four (4) $25 cash prizes that will be awarded for each category.
- Winners will be chosen from four of the five categories following categories:
- Best Vocals
- Funniest Performance
- Judges' Favorite
- Crowd’s Favorite
- Best Group Performance
- To be eligible the contestant must be a student at the University of West Florida.
- Sign-ups for Rap Battle will begin thirty (30) mins before the competition.
- Only the first eight (8) contestants to sign up will be guaranteed a spot in the show. Two (2) alternate slots will be available, in the event that a contestant drops out of the competition.
- The battle rounds will be determined by a bracket system created by the CenterStage Committee Chair.
- The beats will change every round.
- Only the contestants who are battling in that round, the emcee, and the judges are allowed on stage during the battle rounds.
- Do not abuse the equipment (microphones, chairs, staging, etc.).
- Do not provoke aggressive behavior. Physical violence will not be tolerated.
- Misuse of equipment or inappropriate behavior will result in DISQUALIFICATION.
- If there is a technical mistake that is not the contestant’s fault (i.e. microphone or music) the contestant may re-do that round. NO OTHER RE-DOS ALLOWED.
- All judges and Center Stage Committee Chair decisions are FINAL.
- Only one winner will be selected, with a grand prize of $250.
- To be eligible the contestant must be a student at the University of West Florida.
- Sign-ups for Argo Idol begins 15 mins prior to the event.
- Each contestant is required to bring their own music on a flash drive, CD or an iPod (for use in round 2 and 3).
- There will be three (3) rounds:
- Round 1:
- Contestants compete a-capella, no exceptions.
- Round 2:
- Contestants move on to the 2nd round if they receive a golden ticket from the judges.
- Background music may be used in this round, however it is not required.
- Round 3:
- Only two (2) contestants will move on to round 3 (these contestants are also chosen by the judges).
- Background music may be used in this round, however it is not required.
- This round is FINAL and the winner will be selected by the audience vote.
- All judging decisions are FINAL.
- There will only be one winner with a grand prize of $150.
- To be eligible to perform as a solo act in the Lip Sync Competition the contestant must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- If you are performing as a group, at least one person in the group must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- Lip Sync Auditions are MANDATORY.
- The act the contestant performs for Lip Sync Auditions is what the contestant will perform for the actual Lip Sync Competition.
- There will be a Dress Rehearsal (the night after auditions), while it is not mandatory it is strongly advised that contestants show up.
- Tech Rehearsal (the second night of rehearsal) is MANDATORY for ALL group members.
- On the night of the competition contestants are required to arrive up thrity (30) minutes before the event.
- Contestants are required to provide their own music on a CD or a flash drive (for the auditions, rehearsal, and show).
- There will be three judges, and all judging decisions are FINAL.
- There will be 3 winners; 1st place with a cash prize of $300, 2nd place with a cash prize of $200 and 3rd place with a cash prize of $100.
- To be eligible to perform as a solo act in the Talent Show the contestant must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- If you are performing as a group, at least one person in the group must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- Talent Show Auditions are MANDATORY.
- The act the contestant performs for Talent Show Auditions is what the contestant will perform for the actual Talent Show Competition.
- There will be a Dress Rehearsal (the night after auditions), while it is not mandatory it is strongly advised that contestants show up.

- To be eligible to perform in UBDC at least one person in the crew must be a student at The University of West Florida.
- A crew consists of two (2) or more people.
- Have at least three (3) performances prepared. Each performance should be no longer than two minutes and thirty seconds (2:30).
- Props must be approved by the CenterStage Committee Chair before being used.
- All group members must be present at auditions.
- Tech Rehearsal is MANDATORY for all group members.
- The crews will compete head to head in rounds where match ups will be decided by the CenterStage Committee.
- At least half of the crews will be eliminated in each round. Your crew is not guaranteed to move on past the first round.
- Winners will be decided based on two (2) judges and one (1) audience vote.
- All judging decisions are FINAL.
- There will only be one winner, with a grand prize of $350.

Battle of the Bands Application
- To be eligible at least one (1) band member must be a student at the University of West Florida.
- At least two (2) members of the Band must play instruments.
- Sign-ups begin a week before the date of the event.
- Sign Up sheet will be located in the Campus Activity Board office (Commons-Bldg. 22 Rm. 245).
- Each band will have one (1) thirty (30) minutes set, which includes set-up and break down.
- The University of West Florida will not be responsible for the loss or damage to any equipment used by the performer.
- The participants assume all liability for any suits, claims, injuries, or damages occasioned by his/her actions, and further, participant specifically assumes all risks or damages or injury from any cause, action, omission, or occurrence caused or occasioned by The University of West Florida.
- There will be three (3) judge panel, all judging decisions are final.
- There will only be one winner, with a grand prize of $400.
