Mission and Goals

The Business Process Office (BPO) is a "virtual office," or cross-functional collaboration, coordinated by the Chief Information Officer. The purpose of the BPO is to facilitate UWF's initiatives to improve the quality, responsiveness, effectiveness, and efficiency of transaction processing at the university, with primary emphasis on four goals:

• Improve the quality of customer-facing processes and services, particularly business processes with which students interact.
• Improve the efficiency of processes with which faculty interact, thereby reducing the administrative burden on faculty.
• Improve processes that play a major role in recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students.
• Enable efficiencies and cost reductions while maintaining quality and service.

History

On June 22, 2007 President Cavanaugh announced to the university "a university-wide effort to streamline and reexamine our business processes and implement a data warehouse that will support the integration of planning and budget and the new culture of evidence and accountability that is being required of all public universities." He charged the senior associate vice president of University Affairs with heading that effort.
