Tagging and injecting in aquaculture

I am currently studying under Dr. Will Patterson to earn a Master's Degree (M.S) in Biology. My research project involves validation and verification of ageing techniques for the gray triggerfish,/ Balistes capriscus/, utilizing oxytetracycline (OTC) and hard-part comparison. I will also conduct a large-scale spatial comparison of demographic structure in the Gulf of Mexico.

We are coordinating our research effort with NOAA Fisheries in Panama City, Florida and believe that our findings will improve confidence in future stock assessments for the Gulf of Mexico gray triggerfish. In the future I would like to investigate the reproductive biology of this species.
