Digital Art: Posters for Non Profit Workshop

digital artWorkshop Description: Posters for Non-Profits will convene in the University of West Florida's new state-of-the-art digital laboratory to discuss historic poster design in a contemporary, digital context.  The poster, occupying a curious space between the painting and the advertisement, has historically allowed the designer to express both the creative and the social in vernacular form, granting through advertisement status the ability to occupy public space.  In this workshop we will use the designs of advertisements for particular non-profit organizations as vehicles to express both artistic and socially relevant ideas.  Vector graphics illustration software will be used to convert the idea first into a digital file and finally into the large-format print.
