Review of UWF Facilities Division (Continuous Quality Improvement)- Members of ASP were trained in the procedures the Vice President of Administrative Affairs would like ASP to use to develop a team concept to review and assist the departments to increase their efficiency. After the training was held, the Vice President’s position had an employee change and the project was put on hold. Jim Donovan was the project leader.
Mentoring - UWF student requests a mentor in a particular area and ASP responds with a couple of choices of ASP members for the student and the student chooses his/her mentor. This is on-going and numerous members have participated.
Resume Building/Marketing Club - ASP members were asked to attend the marketing clubs resume event. Numerous ASP members met with various students during a two hour period reviewing the student’s resume and discussing issues the student chose to talk about. This project was completed.
Review of UWF Policies and Procedures - ASP members were asked to review all of the Universities policies and procedures by Dr. Morris Marx. This was accomplished and recommendations were made to Dr. Marx. Jack Dunn was project leader and approximately 10 members participated. This projected was completed.
West Florida Technical High School – ASP members were asked to do a mock job interview on each student at the high school (approximately 100 students) which took numerous hours. Each student was then critiqued on his/her response, Bob Peyroux headed up this project. This project is completed.
Math and Science Grant Proposal - Members of ASP teamed up with members of the College of Professional Studies and put together an NIH grant to support superior students in math and science by developing media by experts in various areas. The grant was denied by NIH because there was not enough diversity built into the grant. This project may be readdressed. Bob Kennedy led this project.
Mock Interviewing - Various ASP members chose particular topic areas and UWF students chose to interview with the person associated with that particular topic area. This was done two years in a row through career services. Hopefully this project will be on-going.
Continuity of Operations Plan for UWF – Brigadier General Robert Kennedy originally wrote the continuity of operations plan for the University of West Florida. After the Virginia Tech incident, General Kennedy and Ed Sarrat updated the COOP and blended it with the University’s Emergency Plan. This was a major effort.
Lifeline Transportation Pilot Program for the American Cancer Society - ASP members were asked to analyze who the relevant stakeholders were in the venue of patient cancer treatment and transportation to that treatment. ASP identified the public and private transportation entities as well as the cancer treatment areas and brought them all together at the table. From this start – the Lifeline transportation program is now throughout the state of Florida. The pilot program created here was used as the benchmark. This project is completed.
Pensacola Promise Safety Guide for Seniors - ASP members were asked to volunteer to give feedback on a packet that Workman’s 6th grade students were preparing. The project is specifically for 6th grade students to work with senior citizens while they prepare the “hurricane preparedness service learning project.” Gordon Eade headed this project. This project is completed
UWF at a Glance Brochure - ASP member Gordon Eade suggested a “fact book” be developed about UWF that could be easily handed out that included various facts about the UWF – UWF at a glance basically. Working with Peter Metarko, the brochure developed was just perfect for handing out to people and leaving behind in hotels, restaurants, etc. This booklet continues to be updated.
Junior Achievement – ASP members were asked by Frances Yeo, director of Junior Achievement to help with junior achievement goals at the new West Florida Technical High School and to teach JA classes in local schools. A number of ASP members went into various schools in Escambia and Santa Rosa County and taught JA classes. There are still ASP members helping in this area. Bob Peyroux chaired.
Small Business Mentoring for Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce – ASP members were asked offer their expertise to small businesses in the Gulf Breeze area. Three ASP members met with small GB businesses and offered suggestions to help the business to grow. Bob Peyroux chaired this group. ASP members remain available to GB businesses requests.
Voyages Leadership Program - ASP members were asked to donate 6 hours per semester to mentor in any area of expertise, help students learn to give a presentation, work with survey of community on community’s perception of UWF, and help with leadership development. Gordon Eade chaired this endeavor. The project is still on-going, but the program has been moved to another area of campus – we await the new plan.

Review UWF website – ASP members were asked to review all parts of the UWF web-site and respond with any areas that were felt to be substandard. ASP reviewed most all of the UWF website and found only one small area that they suggested change for. This area dealt with security. This project is completed.
Argonaut sporting events - ASP members were asked to discuss ways to encourage more community involvement in UWF athletic sports events. This project is on-going. The Leisure Society is advertising to its members an LLS/ASP night at the men’s soccer game on Oct 19th.
Presentation to Azalea Trace Residents - ASP members were asked to be a part of the presentation to new Azalea Trace residents expounding on UWF opportunities and activities that AT residents might find interesting. This project is on-going.
Marketing Plan for Leisure Learning Society – ASP members were asked to help put together a marketing plan for the leisure learning society to help publicize the program and its activities. Bob Williamson headed the effort. This project is completed.
Learn To Read, a non-profit agency dedicated to literacy, requested a volunteer from ASP to be the treasurer of the agency. Bob Peyroux stepped up to the plate and has taken the position. This request is completed.
UWF Office of Development, requested help with a business plan for the maritime park. Tom Jacobi volunteered for the task and has already completed it.
