Stephen Atkinson is originally from East Haddam, Connecticut, but grew up in Jensen Beach, Florida. He received his Bachelorâ€™s in History from Stetson University, where he was first introduced to archaeology. He has since spent a summer in Durham, England, on an excavation uncovering a roman fort on Dere Street, an extensive Roman avenue leading to Hadrians Wall. He also worked for the Maritime and Small Boat Museum in Jensen Beach. His main research interests are 17th and 18th century ship building and the age of sail, but he is interested in all things maritime.
