Charles Bendig obtained a B.A. in Anthropology, with minors in History and Southeast Asian studies from Northern Illinois University in 2011. He has worked on the late 19th century hybrid vessel
Slobodna in the Florida Keys with the PAST Foundation. Charles has also worked for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration for their Office of Ocean Exploration and Research and at Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. His interests include ship construction, post-medieval seafaring, artifact conservation, and maritime archaeology/history.
